Scrap Heat Compactor
Application
Engineered for processing flexible and film-based scrap, including:
• Non-Woven Material
• Flexible plastic trim and cut-outs
• Film and sheet scrap
• Poly-coated paper
• Foil-based products
Ideal for converting, extrusion, packaging, and recycling operations where lightweight scrap creates challenges in handling, storage, or disposal.
The system operates automatically with minimal operator involvement, producing a consistent, dense product that is easier to handle, store, and reuse.
Purpose
The Osprey Scrap Heat Compactor is designed to densify lightweight flexible scrap into high-density bars, significantly reducing waste volume while improving handling, storage, and recycling efficiency. By applying controlled heat and compression, the system converts loose, bulky scrap into solid, stackable material, helping manufacturers lower disposal costs, improve plant housekeeping, and recover value from waste streams.
Operation
The Osprey Scrap Heat Compactor is a turnkey, plug-and-play system that processes up to 220 lbs/hr. After a 2-minute heating period, the compactor is ready to accept material. Scrap is pneumatically conveyed to the compactor via an integrated vacuum pump. Once the conveyed scrap is drawn into the machine, it is compressed through a heated chamber and formed into continuous high-density bars measuring approximately 100 x 110 mm. The bars are then automatically cut to a preset length using an integrated cutting blade. Output length is adjustable, allowing finished material to be sized for pallet stacking, storage, transport, or downstream recycling.
