Steve Smith Retires from Osprey

Steven K. Smith - Osprey Corp. 1980-2021

After 41 years of service, Steve Smith has retired from Osprey. Steve started his career in 1980 with Osprey’s sister company Barron, Inc. Over his tenure, he served in many departments of both Barron and Osprey including production, electrical, purchasing, technical service, marketing, and sales. He once worked alongside the original principal owners of Osprey helping build the company in the early stages. Steve was Osprey’s multinational account manager for many years while finishing his career as global sales manager for Latin America and Asia. Steve is considered an expert in Osprey air filtration equipment, soft disposable recycling, and trim handling systems not to mention international travel.

One of the keys to his success was that he developed trusted close relationships over the decades with both customers and fellow colleagues. We know Steve would like for us to mention some of these colleagues that he would like to extend a special thank you for all their support and friendship over the years: Jaime Cattori, Paulo Borba, Tony Zhou, Christoph Ritter, everyone at Dougmac Ltd. Australia, the Moritani group in Japan, Jim Harpole, Tom Barron Jr., Jeff Orwig, Marty Price, Rick Klaus, and everyone in the Osprey family just to name a few.

Steve will join his brother Danny Smith in retirement who retired from Osprey after 32 years. He and his wife Sue plan to spend more time with family, golfing, and leisure travel for a change. Steve’s laugh, dedication, leadership, and work ethic will be missed. “You cannot replace someone like Steve Smith. He gave decades of his life to one company for it to be a better place for our customers and employees. He leaves Osprey a much better place than he found it and for that we are forever grateful. I hope our next generation of leadership will always remember this and follow his example.” said Kirk Harpole.
